We have only one piece of my husband's childhood art ...
By Heidi Honeyman
We have only one piece of my husband's childhood art, a drawing entitled: "Rufus (a bat)." Imagine my surprise when I recently shelved this on the Halloween display at the bookstore where I work. "Rufus!" I cried. Now I know why my husband's picture had pink ears! The story of a bat who feels different still holds up today.

(Trigger warning: there is one page that shows guns. Remember this book was originally published in 1961.)

Loved this book as a child. I'm 50+ now and wanted to introduce Tomi Ungerers colorful universe to my grand-daughter. I'll be picking up his entire collection one by one. Thanks for the re-release!
